Malagos Farmhouse Serves Madrid Fusion 3

A fantastic weekend for Malagos Farmhouse Cheese. We started with a ‘cheese talk’ at the Manila House on April 7. About 13 kinds of cheeses were featured together with their stories. Olive Puentespina, cheese maker and founder of Malagos Farmhouse cheeses spoke about the cheeses and shared her evolution as an artisanal cheese maker.

On the same evening, Malagos Farmhouse co-hosted the cocktails portion of a very special dinner for the movers and shakers of the Madrid Fusion 3. It was also held at the Manila House for about 300 guests.

The next day, April 8, the cheeses were appreciated by the press, congress attendees and chefs from all over the world at the Regional Lunch of Mindanao for the Madrid Fusion.

Once again, the Malagos Farmhouse Team of Olive Puentespina, Karin Carmona, Charita Puentespina and Ingrid Puentespina assisted by the very able students of Enderun showcased artisanal cheeses proudly made in the Philippines. Welcome to our hearth!

Guess Who Dropped by the Leon’s Lounge…

Regional Director Rob Alabado messaged me early in the week if I can come out of my cheese production to meet a Singaporean chef. This kind of request is not new from RD Rob. He usually drops by with some guests or arranges for a visit for his guests. I casually walked in and saw, looking as un-assuming as he can… Chef Seetoh Kok Fye, Singapore’s foremost purveyor of hawker’s food, photographer, writer, TV host and book author (Makansutra). Needless to say, it was an interesting afternoon full of conversation about food and travel.

Nice of you to drop by, KF Seetoh! It was an honor to share the table and serve my artisan cheeses to the King Of Food from Singapore!

Welcome 2017!

On behalf of our team, I thank you for a wonderful 2016. The year saw so many improvements in production, processing, labeling as well as a few addition to the product line.

The pasture management team opened new areas for improved forage and we are now fully on TMR (total mixed ration) with the importation from Jaylor.

We welcome 2017 with renewed hope, refreshed energy and more cheeses in the pipeline, cheers!

Ingrid officially joins Team Malagos Farmhouse!

Since Ingrid P. Puentespina turned 11, she had been my official apprentice. Mostly after ballet class during summer, she would eagerly learn the rudiments of cheese making. And not just cheese making mind you, she cleaned large pots like the next guy. She also took Good Manufacturing Practices seminars and got to represent the company in events like the Madrid Fusion. She is now a sophomore in UP Diliman taking up Food Tech.

Welcome to the Team my dearest!

Credit Card now accepted at the Leon’s Lounge for your shopping convenience!

For the longest time, the Leon’s Lounge only do cash transactions. Being a small village store in the heart of Davao City, everyone seems to know every body and use of credit card requests were not significantly high. At the middle of the year when Davao was propelled to the center of relevant news, we noticed a considerable increase in credit card requests as local and foreign tourist flock the “presidential city”. And we gave in the pressure, for your shopping convenience.

By the way, we will be closed on the 26th of December and 2nd of January.

Happy Holidays from your neighborhood cheese monger, The Leon’s Lounge
