Our Commitment to Fine Food
The best cheese comes from the best quality milk, after all, you can’t make good cheese from bad milk.
Malagos means ‘Malakas na Agos’, alluding to the strong flow of the Malagos Creek which traverses our Golden Sunset Farm and the Malagos Garden Resort. It is also the name of the barrio where our farms are located. The fertile soil, gentle weather, and lush vegetation in Sitio Malagos makes it perfect for agriculture, be it for animal or plant production. In this Golden Sunset Farm, Mrs. Charita Puentespina, the matriarch of the family, holds her court. She started raising the dairy goats and cows amid coconut and cacao plantation, embracing a symbiotic existence for all. Farming is tightly woven into the fabric of the Puentespina family.
We are proud farmers and would want to share our products to a greater market base. So when I was brainstorming on the brand name for the first food venture I conceptualized for the family in 2006, I felt that Malagos would be the perfect background for a farm to fork venture.
Malagos Farmhouse wishes to convey the spirit with which we nurture our products. “Farmhouse” evokes the simplicity of rural life that the corporation embraces. Often handmade and using relatively small scale farmhouse batches, our products are carefully nurtured every step of the way. We proudly produce products of high quality in limited quantity. I wanted to put Malagos on the culinary map of the Philippines, where the name Malagos will be associated with fine food, made with passion and dedication.
The Malagos Food, Inc. dreams of being the leader in the field of artisan cheese production in the Philippines, propelled by dedication, artistry, and innovation.
The registered logo is an artist’s interpretation of the façade of the family house in Sitio Malagos. It is in this house where our ideas are nurtured, dissected and if merited, supported. The old world feel of the artwork is likewise achieved and invokes a bucolic existence of rural life. Malagos Farmhouse is the registered brand name of Malagos Food, Inc., registered under the Intellectual Property Office.
Malagos Farmhouse Cheese is born.
